A Comprehensive Guide to
BIM Lifecycle
CONCEPTUALIZATION
The project's vision, goals, and requirements are defined during this stage. Stakeholders collaborate to establish the project's scope, objectives, and desired outcomes. The conceptualization stage sets the foundation for the entire BIM process
DESIGN AND MODELING
In this stage, architects, engineers, and designers create a 3D model of the building using BIM software. The model incorporates architectural, and MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) elements. During this stage, stakeholders can leverage advanced visualization techniques, clash detection tools, and interdisciplinary coordination to enhance the project.
COORDINATION AND CLASH DETECTION
This stage focuses on identifying and resolving clashes or conflicts within the BIM model. Clash detection tools help detect clashes between building components, such as structural elements conflicting with HVAC ductwork. By identifying and resolving clashes early on, costly rework and delays during construction are minimized.
CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION
During this phase, detailed construction documentation is generated from the BIM model. This includes architectural plans, engineering drawings, specifications, and schedules. The construction documentation provides accurate and standardized information for contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring precise implementation of the design
